Engagement Rings in Garden City, Long Island

"You already know. You've known for a while now. That quiet certainty when you look at them across a restaurant table, on the subway platform at Garden City LIRR, walking home through Roosevelt Field and the boutiques of Franklin Avenue. The ring is just the last piece of a decision your body already made."

Your Garden City Evening

You had the booth by the window at Waterzooi, the Belgian bistro on Franklin Avenue where the mussels come in a cast-iron pot and the beer list runs three pages. Your partner ordered the steak frites. You split a kriek lambic and watched the avenue through glass that has been there since the village was planned in 1869. Garden City after dark is a different kind of quiet than the suburbs around it: deliberate, manicured, the streetlights matching the architecture. You walked past the Garden City Hotel, past the Tudor facades and the azalea borders, and got in the car. Southern State to Belt Parkway to BQE. Forty minutes. The studio was on a residential block in Williamsburg that looked nothing like Garden City and somehow felt just as intentional. Sue opened the door. Inside, the table held a single cushion-cut diamond on black velvet. She asked what brought you here. You told her about the ring your grandmother wore, the one your mother kept in a jewelry box lined with blue silk. The conversation started there.

Rings Our Garden City Clients Love

These are starting points. Every ring is built to order in our studio. Your stone, your metal, your size. Nothing is pulled from a case.

How to Design Your Engagement Ring Near Garden City

Whether you start online or visit us in person, every ring at Haejin Jewelry is made to order. There is no inventory to browse, no display case to lean over. You design something that exists nowhere else in the world. Here's how it works.

1. Explore

Start with our online Ring Builder to browse settings, shapes, and metals. Or use our Custom 3D Design tool to build something from scratch. You can also skip straight to a consultation if you'd rather talk it through in person.

2. Consult

Walk in or book a private appointment at our Williamsburg studio, 40 minutes from Garden City. Sue will sit with you, learn what you're drawn to, and guide you through diamonds, metals, and settings at your pace. Most visits are 30 to 45 minutes. No pressure, no upselling. Bring a mood board or bring nothing at all.

3. Create

Once you've chosen your design, we build it. For custom rings, that means 3D CAD modeling, revisions until every detail is right, and made-to-order production in recycled gold with an IGI-certified lab-grown diamond. Your ring is finished within a few weeks and shipped with free insured delivery. 60-day returns if anything isn't perfect.

Why Garden City Couples Choose Us

Garden City was designed from the ground up. A. T. Stewart drew the village plan in 1869 and placed every street, every park, every lot with purpose. You chose to live here because nothing about it is accidental. The schools, the architecture, the Cathedral grounds, the way Franklin Avenue holds its identity against the sameness of the rest of Nassau County. You apply the same standard to what you buy. You do not want a ring pulled from a rotating display at Roosevelt Field. You want one that was designed with you in the room, by a person whose name you know. Sue Kim works with lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold in a studio that seats two. Your ring is made after the conversation, not before it.

Where to Propose Near Garden City

The Cathedral of the Incarnation gardens on Cathedral Avenue. The grounds are open to the public, and on a spring evening the wisteria and cherry blossoms frame the Gothic stonework. Walk to the cloister garden on the east side, where a low stone wall overlooks the lawn. Arrive thirty minutes before sunset. The Garden City Hotel courtyard is more intimate. The fountain runs year-round, and the flagstone terrace is lit with low lanterns after dusk. Ask the concierge for a table outside. They have seen this moment before and they will give you space.

"I had no idea what I wanted but Sue helped guide and educate me. She encouraged me to take my time in my decision as it was a big one! I didn't see the final creation until I was proposed to and I was blown away. Truly exactly what I wanted. I am so happy to support a small business in my neighborhood."

"Unlike other places I visited, it was obvious that Sue really cared about finding what was best for us, and not just trying to sell us the most expensive ring possible. If you go with Haejin you absolutely will not regret it and you will receive something better than you ever could've imagined."

"She helped me create the ring of my dreams. Sue involved me in the whole process, so I got to see the stone in person before moving forward, and got a mockup of the design as it was being made. The result is unreal. Local, woman-owned, and realistic pricing...I can't say enough good things about Haejin Jewelry."

"She guided me, explained all the different options, we iterated together to find something which my partner would like and then she manufactured our dream ring for us. Sue is incredibly warm and kind and I can only recommend anyone to go to her. My fiancee immediately said yes and she thinks the ring is 'just perfect.'"

Questions from Garden City Couples

What is the easiest way to get from Garden City to Haejin Jewelry?
Take the LIRR Hempstead Branch from Garden City station to Penn Station, about 35 minutes, then hop on the L train to Bedford Avenue. You will be at our Williamsburg studio in under an hour door to door.
How does Haejin Jewelry differ from the traditional jewelers near the Garden City Hotel?
Sue designs every ring by hand with recycled gold and lab-grown diamonds, so you get heirloom quality without the old-school retail markup. Rings start at $1,450 instead of the $8,000 to $10,000 you will see quoted in the village.
Is Haejin a good fit for couples who prefer traditional ring styles?
Many of our Garden City clients choose timeless solitaires and classic pave settings. Sue is just as comfortable designing a cathedral solitaire as she is creating something bold and modern.
Do you offer anything for couples who already have a family stone they want reset?
Yes, Sue does custom resetting work regularly. Bring in your family stone and she will design a new setting around it using recycled gold. Several Garden City families have brought in grandmother's diamonds for a fresh, modern mounting.
Can we visit on a weekday since Garden City is a quick train ride?
Sue is available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 to 5. The 35-minute LIRR ride makes a weekday visit easy, and you will likely have the studio entirely to yourself.

Ready When You Are

No rush. No deposit. No commitment until you're sure. Just a conversation about what you're imagining, in a studio where nobody works on commission.

Most first visits are 30 to 45 minutes. Some couples bring mood boards. Some come with nothing but a budget and a feeling. Both are perfect.

Sue will walk you through diamonds, metals, and styles at your pace. You'll leave knowing exactly what you want and what it costs. Whether you come back is up to you.
