What Others Are Saying

A Williamsburg studio where every ring begins with a conversation.

"This is what shopping for a ring should feel like. Not a sales floor, but a conversation."

Lauren Ladouceur (@planwithlaur) is a wedding content creator whose videos reach millions of viewers on TikTok and Instagram. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, People Magazine, and The Knot. After covering hundreds of weddings, she visited Haejin's Williamsburg studio and wrote about the experience in her 2026 engagement ring guide.

"If there is one thing I have learned shooting weddings for a living, it is how to spot decision fatigue from a mile away," Lauren writes. She describes Haejin's Williamsburg Glow consultation as "a private, pressure-free appointment in their Brooklyn studio where you can handle the diamonds, try settings on, and actually talk through your story before any pricing conversation starts."

Her five non-negotiables for engagement ring shopping in 2026: find your local jeweler (even if they are not local to you), go lab-grown, share your story with your jeweler, document the process, and leave room for growth. Her bonus sixth rule: "Trust the studio that says no."

"At Haejin, every piece is designed, hand-finished, and quality-checked inside the Williamsburg studio. That kind of hands-on craftsmanship is not something you find scrolling an e-commerce site at midnight."

Brownstoner · March 2026

"The space itself reflects why women choose to shop for engagement rings in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan: it is calm and simple. There is time to ask questions, time to think, and it feels more like a thoughtful conversation than a performance."

Brownstoner is Brooklyn's most trusted publication covering real estate, design, and neighborhood life. Their March 2026 profile, written by Brian Keith, traces Sue Kim's journey from the diamond industry to founding an ethical studio in Williamsburg.

The article describes Haejin's studio near McCarren Park as a place "where clients can learn about diamonds, explore designs, and create pieces that tell their unique stories." It positions the studio within a city that "offers more choices and creative talent in a few square miles than anywhere else on Earth."

"I do not see mined diamonds as the equivalent of wearing real fur, but I do think women today want choices that reflect their values."

The Founder's Story

Sue Kim spent years in the diamond industry before facing an uncomfortable truth. The sparkle she loved came at a devastating human cost. "It was something I could no longer look away from," she said.

The name Haejin means "Jewelry Formed by the Sun" in Korean. Like sunlight giving life, Sue wanted her work to bring light and warmth to an industry that had operated in shadows. She opened the Williamsburg studio in April 2024 with a simple conviction: beautiful jewelry should not require anyone's suffering.

Every ring at Haejin is made with lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold. Before anything is crafted, clients see a detailed digital preview. The process is personal from the first conversation to the final polish. And clients return to the same person who made their ring for any future care, resize, or question. No call center. Just Sue.

As Haejin grows, 10 percent of future profits will support victims of unethical mining practices through job training and education, and help local women and families in Brooklyn through the Brooklyn Love Restoration Project. "Real change is not just about ending bad practices," Sue says. "It is about creating new opportunities."

"Diamonds should bring joy without causing suffering, beauty without compromise, and meaning beyond materialism."
Sue Kim, founder of Haejin Jewelry

What Our Couples Say

★★★★★

From the very beginning Sue made the entire experience feel so easy, thoughtful, and personal. She found the most incredible antique elongated cushion stone — truly the ring I had been searching for my whole life, even in my dreams!! I truly cannot recommend Haejin enough.

She helped me create the ring of my dreams. Sue involved me in the whole process, so I got to see the stone in person before moving forward, and got a mockup of the design as it was being made. The result is unreal. Local, woman-owned, and realistic pricing... I can't say enough good things about Haejin Jewelry.

Unlike other places I visited, it was obvious that Sue really cared about finding what was best for us, and not just trying to sell us the most expensive ring possible. If you go with Haejin you absolutely will not regret it and you will receive something better than you ever could've imagined.

She guided me, explained all the different options, we iterated together to find something which my partner would like and then she manufactured our dream ring for us. Sue is incredibly warm and kind. My fiancée immediately said yes and she thinks the ring is "just perfect."
